I have known Mr Surya Ambati for many years and have always found him to be a very passionate, caring and professional individual. Surya led the development and implementation of the new ISWA Constitution, established the ISWA Council, and was instrumental in ensuring that ISWA successfully operated as the peak umbrella body of all the Indian community associations. Surya also played a critical role in acquiring the land for the first Indian Community Centre of Australia in Perth, funding for its building, design and construction of the new Centre which was inaugurated on 17th October 2021. Surya is an enthusiastic, outgoing, and inclusive person. He works and negotiates with people of every background and every ethnicity to arrive at beneficial outcomes. He has displayed an ability to bring together so many diverse communities under the ISWA banner

Surya Ambati is an exceptional community leader with a clear vision for the future. As the former head of Indian Society of WA, he was instrumental in establishing the Indian Community Centre in Perth, strengthening connections across the community. His people skills, strategic leadership, and contributions on ministerial boards have shaped multicultural policies in WA. With executive studies from Harvard University, Surya brings a unique blend of insight, professionalism, and passion to everything he does. It’s been a privilege to see his dedication firsthand, and I’m confident his impact will continue to inspire positive change.

Surya Ambati is a qualified and well-educated professional who has demonstrated his interest in the progression of various community issues that face WA- sustainable economic growth services for seniors, family violence, employment for migrants, advancement of multiculturalism. He has ably delivered various projects for the community as a volunteer with the Indian Society of WA and held leadership roles within this organisation, again demonstrating his desire to serve the community. Surya is also a highly valued professional and this combination of community service along with professional qualifications and experience as an engineer will make him an ideal community leader. He has won several awards for his community work including the Outstanding Individual Achievement Award at the 2023 Multicultural Awards of WA. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Surya Ambati for almost 10 years here in Wellard. He’s a genuine friend to everyone and a dedicated supporter of our vibrant multicultural community. As the President of ISWA in Perth, Surya has consistently worked to uplift and empower the Indian community. Professionally, Surya’s background in engineering in Western Australia is impressive. He brings valuable connections across India’s social, political, and economic spheres, which position him as a strong candidate for the upcoming election. His deep understanding of creating positive societal change sets him apart. Surya has always been a steadfast advocate for local businesses and the broader community.

Being the driving force behind the development of a new multi-million dollar Indian Community Centre in Willetton, Mr. Ambati has provided for both Indian and the greater Australian communities a Centre for education, recreation, arts and business networking. With his experience, Mr. Ambati is helping Chung Wah Association with strategic plans for our proposed community centre.

Having served alongside Surya Ambati on the ISWA Management Committee, I witnessed firsthand his exceptional leadership qualities. He consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to serving our community, always putting others’ needs before his own. His ability to unite people across different faiths and backgrounds, while delivering tangible results, is truly remarkable. Surya doesn’t just talk about inclusion - he lives it, making him exactly the kind of leader our community needs. His track record of bringing people together and achieving practical outcomes speaks volumes about his capabilities.

Mr. Ambati has worked in Indian Society of WA in various capacities during my term there for eight years. He is always ready to assume and excel in all jobs he does and possesses self-motivation to successfully create and execute projects independently. His strengths are complemented by his demonstrated leadership skills.
